Stored XSS via unsafe profile URL rendering
Published May 2, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Ultimate Member 2.8.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to run scripts through Skype or Spotify profile URLs. Profile field rendering inserts those user-controlled values into anchor href attributes with esc_attr(), which escapes HTML but does not restrict URL schemes. Subscriber access is sufficient to store the payload, and the script runs in the browser of any user who views the affected profile.
