Administrator-session script execution via unsanitized REST JSON
Published Mar 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 8, 2024
Stored XSS in Bonita before 2023.2-u2 allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser through crafted REST API JSON. REST API requests accepted JSON strings without server-side sanitization, allowing dangerous markup to be stored and later rendered by the administration UI. Exploitation requires an administrator to open the affected UI screen; script runs in that user's Bonita origin and can access or alter session-visible data.
