Site-settings overwrite via unvalidated forged POST
Published Mar 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Codelyfe Stupid Simple CMS 1.2.4 allows remote attackers to overwrite site settings via a forged POST request. The /admin/save_settings.php handler copies six attacker-supplied form fields into site-settings.xml and saves the file without validating a CSRF token or request origin. A victim must submit the forged form from a browser that can reach the administrative endpoint; exploitation can alter the site's title, copyright, URL, greeting, metadata description, and image.
