Runtime hang via crafted WebAssembly module
Published Nov 8, 2024 · Updated Nov 13, 2024
Denial of service in Wasm3 139076a allows remote attackers to hang the runtime by supplying a crafted WebAssembly module. The public report demonstrates that passing its proof-of-concept module to the wasm3 executable enters a blocking condition during WebAssembly validation, but it does not disclose the specific function or faulty operation that causes the loop. Execution of attacker-controlled WebAssembly is required, and the documented consequence is a persistent process hang rather than data access, modification, or a crash.
