Root code execution via unrestricted MMI Python method
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Privilege escalation in Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS 22.6.1.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code as root via MMI. The MMI JSON-RPC python method accepts a submitted Python script from read-only sessions, and imported subprocess calls execute with root privileges. A read-only account is required; the documented default guest account has no password unless factory accounts are removed.
