Root command execution via mishandled mailbox arguments
Published Aug 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Zimbra Collaboration 9.0 and 10.0 allows local users with zimbra access to execute commands as root. The privileged zmmailboxdmgr binary incorrectly handles attacker-controlled command-line arguments during mailbox operations. Exploitation requires access as the zimbra service account and grants root-level command execution on the host.
