CVE-2024-2742Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via unsanitized Ping Test input

Published Mar 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

OS command injection in PLANET IGS-4215-16T2S firmware 1.305b210528 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The administrative web interface's Ping Test passes the IP Address field to command execution without adequately sanitizing shell metacharacters, as demonstrated by command substitution in a crafted ping target. Administrative access to the diagnostic page is required, and successful exploitation gives full control of the embedded Linux switch and can disclose sensitive data through attacker-observed DNS queries.
