Rendering freeze via premature DMA buffer deallocation
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Availability flaw in the nouveau GSP driver in Linux 6.7.6 through 6.7.8 allows local users to freeze system-wide rendering during resume. The r535 GSP post-initialization path frees the RMARGS and WPR metadata DMA buffers even though later suspend and resume handling still requires them. On multi-GPU systems using nouveau GSP runtime power management, an unprivileged process with render-node access can induce the suspend path and leave rendering frozen.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
