CVE-2024-27391

Memory exhaustion via repeated workqueue allocation

Published May 1, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Resource leakage in the Linux kernel wilc1000 driver allows local users to exhaust memory by repeatedly adding Wi-Fi interfaces. wilc_netdev_ifc_init allocates a new ordered workqueue for every added interface and overwrites the sole stored pointer without releasing the prior queue. Exploitation requires local privileges and an active WILC1000 wireless physical interface; each interface-add cycle leaves another worker running.
