Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted Gremlin reflection
Published Apr 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Remote code execution in Apache HugeGraph-Server 1.0.0 through 1.2.x allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via Gremlin queries. The Gremlin execution path permits scripts to reach Java reflection and process-launch APIs; the patch blocks Class, Method, Runtime, and ProcessBuilder operations. Unauthenticated network access to the Gremlin interface with authentication disabled is sufficient, granting command execution in the server process context.
