CVE-2024-27323

Code execution via unvalidated updater certificate

Published Apr 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper certificate validation in PDF-XChange Editor 10.1.1.381 allows attackers to execute code through its update channel. The updater accepts a server certificate without proper validation, allowing a man-in-the-middle attacker to substitute and launch an installer from the wrong server. No user interaction or prior product authentication is required, but the attacker must occupy an adjacent network position; code runs as the current user.
