Authenticated file overwrite via archive path traversal
Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in affected Apache Pulsar releases allows remote authenticated users to write files via crafted function archives. The Functions Worker extracts JAR and NAR ZIP entries without rejecting '..' path elements, so crafted names escape the designated extraction directory. Exploitation requires function-upload authentication and an enabled Functions Worker, including brokers configured with functionsWorkerEnabled=true, and permits creation or modification of process-accessible files.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
