CVE-2024-27299Public exploitNetwork attack vector

SQL injection via unescaped news author email

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

SQL injection in phpMyFAQ 3.2.5 allows remote authenticated users with news-editing rights to read or alter PostgreSQL data. News::addNewsEntry() and updateNewsEntry() pass authorEmail into SQL without database escaping, while FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL accepts crafted SQL-bearing addresses. Exploitation requires access to save news; database-superuser deployments also permit file reads and command execution through PostgreSQL.
