CVE-2024-2729Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped Review block heading

Published Apr 18, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Stored XSS in Themeisle Otter Blocks before 2.6.6 allows remote authenticated users with Contributor access to execute script in viewers' browsers. The server-side Review block renderer appends the user-controlled mainHeading attribute to rendered post output without proper escaping. A contributor must save a crafted Review block in a post, and the payload runs when another user views or previews that post, permitting actions in that viewer's WordPress session.
