CVE-2024-27261

Downstream system access via unchecked tar installation

Published Apr 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper integrity checking in IBM Storage Defender Resiliency Service 2.0.0 through 2.0.2 allows attackers to access downstream systems. The Connection Manager package-installation path accepts a crafted tar archive without adequate integrity validation, allowing it to reach systems that later install the package. Administrative privileges and adjacent-network reachability are required; successful exploitation exposes the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of those downstream systems.
