Local privilege escalation via unchecked parameter write
Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in Google Android 13 ACPM allows local users to gain elevated privileges through crafted TMU governor parameters. The tmu_config_gov_params function writes a thermal-management governor parameter without first checking the destination bounds. Exploitation requires local access, needs no additional execution privileges or user interaction, and grants elevated privileges on the device.
