Root code execution via writable Sendmail configuration
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Incorrect permissions in Sendmail directories on Toshiba Tec e-STUDIO MFPs allow local users to execute arbitrary code as root. The mode-777 /work/ci/tmp directory accepts attacker-controlled temporary configuration files that Sendmail later loads, while /var/spool/clientmqueue is also dangerously writable. Local access to the printer firmware is required; successful exploitation grants root-level code execution and access to stored data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
