Log disclosure via device-wide encryption key
Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Use of hard-coded credentials in Toshiba Tec e-STUDIO MFPs allows local users to decrypt encrypted backup logs on the device. The encrypt_backup_log.sh script passes a device-wide static key to OpenSSL when encrypting collected log archives, so possession of an archive provides no device-specific secrecy. The gate is access to the device or an encrypted log file; exploitation reveals log contents without altering data or interrupting the printer.
