Unauthenticated account creation via unenforced registration setting
Published Mar 1, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Apache Archiva 2.0.0 and later allows remote attackers to register accounts despite disabled registration. The UI configuration removes the registration link, but the registration workflow does not enforce the disableRegistration setting against direct requests. The bypass requires a network-accessible instance with self-registration disabled; it creates an unauthorized local account but does not itself grant administrative privileges.
