Unauthenticated root code execution via password reset
Published Apr 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
OS command injection in QNAP QTS, QuTS hero, and QuTScloud allows remote attackers to execute commands through password reset requests. The password-reset handler fails to validate a user-supplied string before passing it to a system call, allowing injected input to run as root. Authentication is not required, but the vendor's assessment requires user interaction and high-complexity conditions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
