Kernel memory corruption via unprotected RCU dereference
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in the WILC1000 Wi-Fi driver in affected Linux kernels allows physically proximate attackers to disclose kernel memory or crash systems. wilc_parse_join_bss_param dereferences bss->ies outside an RCU read-side critical section while received beacon and probe-response traffic can replace and free that object. Exploitation requires Wi-Fi radio proximity, an active WILC1000 interface, and an induced reconnect; repeated frame injection can expose kernel data or trigger an oops or panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
Public exploit references
No public exploit references are available in this record.
Labels summarize the accepted research assessment. They do not indicate a test against your environment.
