CVE-2024-27047

Kernel crash via empty PHY delay array

Published May 1, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel allows local users to crash the system through a zero-valued PHY delay configuration. The phy_get_internal_delay function indexes delay_values even when a driver leaves that array undefined and a receive or transmit internal-delay property equals zero. Reachability requires that driver and device-tree combination; the resulting kernel oops interrupts service.
