Kernel panic via F2FS block-address fault injection
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in Linux kernel F2FS allows attackers to trigger a kernel panic through block-address validity fault injection. The verify_blkaddr function calls f2fs_bug_on after f2fs_is_valid_blkaddr returns false, converting an injected validation failure into a panic. Reachability requires an F2FS filesystem with block-address validity fault injection enabled, and the resulting panic interrupts the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
