Kernel warning via mistimed RDS connection trigger
Published May 1, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026
Improper input validation in Linux RDS RDMA mapping allows local users to trigger a kernel warning through a crafted sendmsg call. __rds_rdma_map returns ENODEV when memory-region setup precedes connection establishment, but rds_sendmsg checks for EAGAIN before connecting. Reachability requires local code to use the RDS RDMA send path; public reproduction shows the warning and failed mapping, not a confirmed crash or data compromise.
