Out-of-bounds read in Linux nilfs2 allows attackers to trigger an unspecified impact through an inode mode with invalid file-type bits. nilfs_set_de_type uses (mode & S_IFMT) >> S_SHIFT directly as an index into nilfs_type_by_mode, whose original length excludes the maximum resulting index. The condition requires mode & S_IFMT to equal S_IFMT; published material establishes the invalid read but not a crash, disclosure, or privilege gain.
