Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Swift Framework before 2024.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in administrators’ browsers via shortcodes. The spb_boxed_content shortcode stores attacker-controlled attributes such as el_class from slide caption text and emits them into page markup without validation or output escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to submit the payload, but an administrator must approve and encounter the crafted slide before the script executes.
