Out-of-bounds access in Linux ksmbd allows remote attackers to read adjacent kernel memory or interrupt service via a malformed SMB request. smb2_allocate_rsp_buf reads SMB2 header and payload fields to size a response before confirming that the request buffer contains those fields, causing reads beyond the received buffer. Exposure requires the ksmbd SMB server to be enabled and reachable without prior SMB authentication; the public record does not state whether interruption manifests as a hang or crash.
