CVE-2024-26917

FCoE service interruption via incorrect irqsave locking

Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

Denial of service in the Linux kernel FCoE controller allows local users to interrupt FCoE device operation in affected releases. The controller code in drivers/scsi/fcoe/fcoe_ctlr.c changes ctlr_lock handling from bottom-half locking to irqsave locking, causing device interrupts to be lost. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and an FCoE device; the documented consequence is interruption of that device rather than a system-wide crash.
