CVE-2024-26880

Kernel crash via unpaired device-mapper suspend callbacks

Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Denial of service in affected Linux kernel device-mapper builds allows local users to crash the kernel through suspend operations. __dm_internal_resume omits target resume callbacks, so a later origin_postsuspend call removes an already-removed hash_list entry and corrupts the list. Reaching the device-mapper control path requires privileged local access; Siemens also reports local privilege escalation in one embedded subsystem.
