CVE-2024-26860

Local denial of service via checksum-recheck leak

Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated May 23, 2026

A memory leak in dm-integrity in affected Linux kernel versions allows local users to exhaust kernel memory through repeated checksum failures. The dm-integrity checksum-verification path jumps to skip_io for a recheck without freeing its heap-backed checksums buffer. Reachability requires local access, an active dm-integrity target, and a checksum failure that enters the recheck path; repeated leaks can interrupt service.
