CVE-2024-26846

Privileged service hang via racing nvme-fc teardown

Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

Denial of service in affected Linux kernels allows local users with administrative privileges to hang module unloading via nvme-fc teardown. The nvme_fc_exit_module path waits for controller deletion while racing ID cleanup, so pending nvme_delete_ctrl work can leave wait_for_completion blocked indefinitely. Triggering the hang requires administrative privilege to unload the nvme-fc kernel module, and the bounded consequence is loss of service availability.
