CVE-2024-26813

Kernel interruption via premature IRQ loopback

Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in affected Linux kernel builds allows local users to interrupt service through the vfio-platform SET_IRQS ioctl. The ioctl accepts a loopback interrupt trigger before a signaling eventfd initializes the handler trigger, leaving a NULL pointer for the IRQ path to dereference. Reaching the fault requires local access to the vfio-platform device and issuing SET_IRQS in that unconfigured state; the documented consequence is limited to service interruption.
