CVE-2024-26797

Kernel memory corruption via unchecked pipe index

Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Out-of-bounds access in the Linux kernel 6.7 AMD display driver allows local users to corrupt kernel memory via a crafted display configuration. The map_hw_resources function uses num_pipes to index six-entry stream and plane mapping arrays without first rejecting values above their bounds. Access to a DRM device node and a crafted atomic modeset can trigger out-of-bounds reads and writes, causing an oops, display-engine hang, or kernel panic.
