Out-of-bounds read in Btrfs device replacement in affected Linux kernels allows local users to read kernel memory or crash the system. fs/btrfs/dev-replace.c passes user-controlled source and target device-name buffers to getname_kernel() without first verifying NUL termination, causing a read beyond the buffer. Reaching the flaw requires local access and permission to issue the Btrfs device-replacement ioctl against a mounted Btrfs filesystem.
