Kernel crash via uninitialized timerlat hrtimer cancellation

Denial of service in the Linux kernel allows local users to trigger a kernel oops by closing an unread timerlat_fd tracing file. timerlat_fd_release cancels an hrtimer that was initialized only on first read, so closing the descriptor before reading dereferences an uninitialized timer pointer. Access to the timerlat tracing interface is required, and successful triggering interrupts kernel service without reported data disclosure or modification.
