Kernel crash via unchecked RM3100 rate index
Published Apr 3, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux RM3100 magnetometer driver allows local users to crash the kernel during device probing. rm3100_common_probe uses the unchecked RM3100_REG_TMRC value to index rm3100_samp_rates outside its bounds. Reachability requires RM3100 hardware to return an out-of-range value during probing, as observed with underlying hardware failures.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
