Kernel fault via non-linear tunnel checksum
Published Apr 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel allows local users to trigger a kernel fault while generating an IPv6 PMTU error. In skb_tunnel_check_pmtu, csum_partial reads a non-linear socket buffer as contiguous data even though it cannot handle fragmented SKBs. The path is reached during tunneled packet transmission, and kernel panic behavior depends on system configuration.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
