System crash via ignored endpoint-discovery failure
Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Improper input validation in affected Linux 3.14 and later sr9800 drivers allows local users to crash the system during USB binding. The sr9800_bind function ignores a failure from usbnet_get_endpoints and continues initialization without valid endpoint state. Triggering the flaw requires local low-privileged access and an SR9800 USB network device whose endpoint discovery fails; the documented consequence is a system crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
