Incorrect SMBus data read via unreset buffer index

Incorrect data handling in the Linux kernel's i2c-i801 driver allows attackers to receive the wrong SMBus block-process-call data. During a block process call, the driver resets the block-buffer index before writing but fails to reset it again before reading the response. Exposure requires an Intel i801-compatible SMBus controller and a block process call; the documented consequence is incorrect returned data.
