CVE-2024-26339Public exploit

Process crash via overlapping strcpy regions

Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Improper memory copying in SWFTools 0.9.2 allows attackers to crash swfc by processing a crafted SWFC input script. The unescape function in lib/swf4compiler.flex passes overlapping regions of one lexer-allocated buffer to strcpy while decoding action code. The demonstrated path requires swfc to compile the supplied script; public evidence shows an AddressSanitizer abort, not code execution or data modification.
