Local process crash via invalid action-code read
Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in SWFTools 0.9.2 allows local users to crash swfc by compiling a crafted action-code input. The compileSWFActionCode function dereferences an invalid address while parsing the crafted source, producing a zero-page read and segmentation fault. Execution requires local access to invoke the command-line compiler with the supplied input; the documented consequence is termination of that swfc process.
