Administrative actions via backURL CSRF bypass
Published Oct 22, 2024 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
CSRF in the account-management widget in Liferay Portal and DXP allows remote attackers to trigger administrative actions through a crafted backURL. The widget accepts the _com_liferay_my_account_web_portlet_MyAccountPortlet_backURL parameter in a way that bypasses request-forgery protection and carries the authenticated account's authority into the selected action. Affected Portal 7.4.3.75 through 7.4.3.111 and specified DXP 7.3, 7.4, 2023.Q3, and 2023.Q4 updates require interaction by an authenticated account and permit password changes, server shutdown, scripting-console code execution, and other administrative actions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.4.3.111 <=7.4.3.75
