Remote code execution via malicious SQL server replies
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025
Heap-based buffer overflow in the Microsoft WDAC SQL Server ODBC Driver allows remote attackers to execute code via a malicious SQL server. Specially crafted server replies overrun a heap buffer in the connection driver, although Microsoft has not disclosed the affected parser or copy operation. Exploitation requires an authenticated user to be persuaded to connect with a SQL client, and resulting code runs in that client application's user context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
