CVE-2024-26170

Local privilege escalation

Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated May 3, 2025

Improper input validation in Windows CimFS allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges on affected Windows 10, 11, and Server builds. Microsoft has not disclosed the CimFS input or the validation error that enables the privilege boundary to be crossed. Exploitation requires local access and an existing low-privilege account; successful exploitation grants elevated control without user interaction.
