CVE-2024-26147Network attack vector

Client and SDK crash via nil metadata dereference

Published Feb 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 14, 2024

Denial of service in Helm before 3.14.2 allows remote attackers to crash the client or SDK via metadata-free index or plugin YAML. The repo loadIndex path and plugin validatePluginData function dereference nil Metadata pointers after YAML decoding omits the entire object. A crafted repository index can panic affected SDK calls or repository addition, while an installed malicious plugin can make every client invocation panic.
