Crash or code execution via SafeRefPtr self-assignment
Published Mar 19, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox before 124, Firefox ESR before 115.9, and Thunderbird before 115.9 allows remote attackers to execute code. SafeRefPtr::operator=(SafeRefPtr&&) fails to detect self-assignment, so it releases mRawPtr while retaining a dangling pointer for later use. Reaching an affected IndexedDB code path is required; successful triggering crashes the client or runs code in its process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <124
