Code execution via unsaved JIT return registers
Published Mar 19, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Code execution in Mozilla Firefox before 124, Firefox ESR before 115.9, and Thunderbird before 115.9 allows remote attackers to run arbitrary code. The Arm JIT flexibleDivMod32 path fails to preserve output return registers across a call from JIT code to C++, allowing their values to be overwritten. Exploitation is limited to Armv7-A processors without the optional sdiv instruction; Thunderbird mail reading disables scripting, so browser-like content is required there.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <124
