Service-level code execution via ClientSession use-after-free
Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Use-after-free in Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3xxx 1.5.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code as the ControllerAgent service. Malformed HomePlug packets crash the CharxControllerAgent service; teardown then operates on a freed ClientSession object without checking that it still exists. Authentication is not required, but exploitation requires network adjacency and successful timing of the service restart to gain service-level code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
