Root privilege escalation via incorrect file ownership
Published Mar 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper input validation in the Qualcom plctool on CHARX SEC-3xxx firmware 1.5.0 and earlier allows local users to gain root access. The plctool binary accepts untrusted input that lets a low-privileged process assign incorrect ownership to specific files. An attacker must already execute low-privileged code on the controller; successful exploitation runs arbitrary code as root.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
