CVE-2024-25980Network attack vector

Cross-group report disclosure via course-only group check

Published Feb 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Improper access control in Moodle H5P allows remote authenticated users to view attempt reports for users in other groups. The get_report method in mod/h5pactivity/classes/local/manager.php checks the course module's effective group mode with user_can_view_profile instead of validating whether the target user is visible under the activity's group mode. The default exposure is limited to non-editing teachers with report access, and the consequence is unauthorized disclosure of H5P attempt data across Separate Groups boundaries.
